Banbury Branch Striking Competition

We had a most enjoyable Striking Competition at Cropredy on Saturday, 29 June 2024.  The sun shone and all present were able to sit out in the churchyard.

There were six teams:  Adderbury, Bloxham, Cropredy (2), Steeple Aston and Wardington.  Mark Sayers was the judge, ably helped by Bob Reeves.  Steeple Aston won the Method trophy and Adderbury won the Call Change Cup.   It was very satisfying to note that each band had at least one person ringing in their first ever striking competition and Wardington had THREE first timers.  Bloxham’s team also featured two under 18s, as well as the largest age range, from 11 years to somewhere around seven decades older than that!

Congratulations to all who took part, especially those teams who had been working hard on new skills so their team could enter.

The ringing for the day ended with a nicely struck plain course of Stedman Triples which was followed by the picnic in the churchyard.  The raffle was generously supported and made £96 for Branch maintenance funds.
